Junior Race Announced
The Smokefree Perth Criteriums 2012 will be holding a Junior Criterium* at Race 2 Town of Victoria Park! This race will be available for U17 and U15 male and female riders who hold a Cycling Australia/WA licence.
There will be two categories in this race:
Category 1: the U17 boys;
Category 2:
the U17girls, U15 boys and girls.
Both categories will run at the same time. Category 1 will start ahead of Category 2; meaning that Category 2 will be one full lap ahead, and Category 1 will have to lap the bunch to be in the overall lead of the race. Any one lapped after this point will be pulled out of the race (lapped for a second time).
Race Details:
Date - Sunday 12th February 2012
Race Check In - 12.45pm to 1.20pm
Race Briefing - 1.20pm Start Line
Race Start - 1.30pm
Race Duration - 20 mins + 2 laps
Categories 1 - U17 Boys
2 - U17 Girls, U15 Boys & Girls
Cost - $25 per rider
Presentations - during the Open Men's Race approx 3.15pm
The top three for each category will be awarded a prize.

Santos Sprinters Classification

A new category will be introduced into the Smokefree Perth Criteriums in 2012 – Santos Sprint Classification.
Each race there will be a series of sprints at pre-determined times throughout the race:
Support and Open Women’s: 10 and 20 minute marks and the finish
Open Men’s: 10, 20 and 30 minute marks and the finish
Points will be awarded as follows for the top three after each sprint:

At the conclusion of each race, the rider with the most sprint points will receive the sprinters jersey* as well as the following prize money:
Support and Open Women’s:
- $15 for the overall leader at the end of each race (races 1-3)
- $200 for the overall leader at the end of the series
Open Men:
- $25 for the overall leader at the end of each race (races 1-3)
- $600 for the overall leader at the end of the series
* Please note: All riders awarded the leaders jersey for Sprint Classification must wear it in the race following the presentation.
